CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

 

Dance classes at Moondust are taught in a positive and patient atmosphere. Classes are fun, funky and friendly. You will enjoy the groovy moves and the great music from pop to Hip Hop., de­pending on the age group. 13 years and under are taught a mixture of jazz and funk and Teens have a choice of style. Adults can choose between a funk and fitness class, a performance class or hip hop class. The great aspect about the classes we offer are that they are recreational—no exams, eisteddfods or competitions. The main goal is to improve confidence, get fit, have fun and make friends and most importantly; achieve goals and feel good about yourself. All students are encouraged to treat dance as part of a balanced lifestyle, with school work, social life and leisure being of equal priority. Check out what is on offer and what is suitable for you. TEENY TOTS
A class for the little ones, for those who love to dance and shake to music! Expand on the Hi5 and Wiggles generation with a class that's full of dance play, rhythm, props and fun!!! Increase awareness in body movement and creativity through dance. A great learning experience for little ones about to step into the social world in a carefree and small group environment.
Ages:      Teeny Tots 3 years.

TINY TOTS AND PRE-JUNIOR
A great preschool dance program that offers variety, energy and plenty to learn. This ranges from warm ups using pop music from Hi5, The Wiggles, S Club 7, Saddle Club etc, jazz runs and combinations across the room, learning dance terms through games, basic dance moves to improve body co­ordination and memory using routines. Increase stretching/ strength/ flexibility and learn basic dance terminology.
Age/experience levels: **Tiny Tots = 4 years old**Pre junior = 5 years old

JUNIOR 1
Similar to the above, with the addition of learning and remem­bering dance moves for a routine, formations, positioning, per­formance aspects and positive teamwork. More variety of mu­sic to suit this age level (Pop etc.) A lot of energy, spice and colour creates a fantastic class for this age group.
Ages: 6 to 7 years old

JUNIOR 2
This class means fun, funk and achievement. Learning more combinations across the room to challenge the mind and body, learning to count and dance to the beat of music, more empha­sis on technique with posture and energy, more confidence with remembering routines, loads of teamwork with formations and group activities and topping it off with strength/stretch/ flexibility moves.
Ages: 7 to 8 years old

JUNIOR 3
Similar to the above but adding more expression, characters, themes, props etc. Learning to understand a positive attitude, accepting yourself for your own individual style and showing it off, confronting fears, stage presentation and getting the most of your class and the routines learnt. This class is jam packed with inspiration and unforgettable times.
Ages: 8 to 10 years old

JUNIOR 4
This class is aimed at experienced/confident juniors, aged from 10 years old who are too young to move to pre-teen class but would like more of a challenge. More routines and combina­tions and emphasis on improving each move—posture, energy, style and flexibility.
Ages: 9 to 11 years old

PRE-TEEN
Moving up in the world with the latest music, updated moves and letting you out of your comfort zone material into some­thing new. This class experiments with both and funk. Improv­ing body co-ordination, fitness, joint mobility with a variety of moves and routines, combinations, stretch and strengthening exer­cises. Emphasis is placed on improving self esteem, developing a positive attitude-not only in dance, but in life, overcoming stage nerves, understanding and accepting your own style, making friends through teamwork and achieving step by step by goalss.
Ages:  11 to 12 years old

 
 

TEEN HIP HOP
Beginning in the streets of Harlem, New York City, this fast paced powerful and unique form of dance has now taken the world by storm. Combining funk, jazz, break dancing, martial arts and acrobatics, hip hop is one of the most freestyle dance forms around.  If you want to have fun and learn all the latest moves with smooth transitions this is the class for you.
Ages: 13-19 years old

TEEN FUNK
This style has loads of attitude!!!! Seen in video clips and movies you will learn routines and develop your groove using your own style. Get those sweat bands out and get ready to get down and funk !!!!!

ADULT FUNK AND FITNESS
Want a class full of fun fitness and a great social atmosphere? This class has stress release written all over it. Feeling good is important in a busy adult life and this class will bring back that smile after a full day at work, study or in family life. No one is a professional dancer in the adult classes but simply a professional at having a good time! The class starts with 2-3 warm up songs that get your heart pumping the a progression of steps put together to a short routine. The routine is different every week and is broken down so it is easy to learn. The class ends with stretching and breathing exercises, sending you back out into the world feeling funkytastic !!! All ages and abilities (and sexes) welcome.

ADULT PERFORMANCE
This class is a mixture of fun/fitness, jazz/funk and performance op­portunities. During the class you will learn a routine which becomes a performance piece ready for the end of term production. This class is rated intermediate and no performance experience is necessary as this will be learnt in class time, from facing fears, developing style and confidence, enjoying the moment, using expression, working with the group to develop costume ideas and getting out of your comfort zone and feeling exhilarated. Loads of fun, laughs and unforgettable times !!!

ADULT HIP HOP
Similar to above but in in the latest hip hop style. Find out what all the hype with hip hop is and learn to move in a new challenging style. This class is designed for beginners to intermediate and no performance experience is necessary. Develop your style, funk and attitude. Suit­able for all ages, sexes and levels.

BOYS / GIRLS & MIXED HIP HOP
IIf you want to get down and do some in-to-the-ground dancing, then this is your class. Hip hop includes poppin' and lockin', break dance, freestyle and the coolest choreography around. Specialising in Hip Hop choreography, Bert makes sure all students have loads of fun while they learn dance moves that separate them from all the rest!
Ages: 8 to 12 years

JUNIOR HIP HOP
If you want to get down and do some in-to-the-ground dancing, now you can! Due to popular demand we now have a hip hop option for junior girls and boys. Learn the latest hip hop dance moves and grow your dance ability.
Ages: 5 - 8 years

TAP
Style of dance of Fred Astaire, Tap Dogs and Bootmen. Variety of music from pop and cabaret to street. Emphasis is put on the beat of the music to keep time, co-ordination, concentration, technique and presentation. The class entails a warm up, exercises to different beats, combinations across the room and learning full routines. This class is great fitness for the lower body, making friends and its heaps of fun to try something different. We have classes to cater to all ages and levels.
Ages: Options open for Juniors, Teens and Adults

ADVICE FOR BEGINNERS
Most people are not relaxed for the first couple of classes……….do not worry about it !!  Allow yourself some time to master exercises and adjust to the pace of the class.  If you are unsure of anything in class time….ask in class time.  You will feel better for it.  Allow yourself to make mistakes.  Perfect is boring !!!  Please let teachers know if you have any injuries as they can advise you accordingly.  If the class is easy and you can do everything with confidence, ask your teacher to move you to a harder class.  We are here to make you feel comfortable and enjoy your class so come along and give it a go !!
